about our family business
Steve’s Bees was founded in 2004 by self-starter Stephen Scheel. The idea for the company was developed after the birth of his first son, Isaac Scheel who developed severe allergies and asthma at an early age. Like any concerned parents, Steve and his wife, Fran, conducted research and found honey to be very effective in controlling Isaac’s health issues. Along the way, Steve became fascinated with bees, got his own hives and started a small honey business for friends and family in the community. Over the years Steve’s bees began to grow and an opportunity arose to enter into a pollination contract in California in 2018 which demanded roughly 700 hives. This was the game changer. Steve was then able to obtain more pollination contracts and retire from his current job and switch to beekeeping full time on January 31st 2019, on his oldest daughter’s 21st birthday. The company continues to grow today with the goal of improving the health of both the earth and the people on it.
